Short communication Photosynthetic response of Japanese rose species Rosa bracteata and Rosa rugosa to temperature and light

The photosynthetic leaf characteristics of two rose species native to Japan were measured. The optimum temperature range for photosynthesis of Rosa bracteata was higher than that of Rosa rugosa. The photosynthetic response to temperature of R. bracteata was slower than that of R. rugosa. Maximum photosynthetic rates were reached at an irradiance of higher than 750 m mol mÿ2 sÿ1 in both species....

Substrates Effects on Growth, Yield and Quality of Rosa Hybrida L

The effects of various growing substrates, combinations of soil, silt, sand, press mud (PM) and rice hulls (RH) on plant growth, yield and quality of rose (Rosa hybrida L.) cvs. Kardinal, Anjlique and Gold Medal, were studied to standardize substrates for cut rose production and develop better management and quality production protocol. Plant height, number of leaves branch, leaf area, number o...

A coupled model of photosynthesis, stomatal conductance and transpiration for a rose leaf (Rosa hybrida L.).

The following three models were combined to predict simultaneously photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, transpiration and leaf temperature of a rose leaf: the biochemical model of photosynthesis of Farquhar, von Caemmerer and Berry (1980, Planta 149: 78-90), the stomatal conductance model of Ball, Woodrow and Berry (In: Biggens J, ed. Progress in photosynthesis research. The Netherlands: Marti...

Gas Concentration in the Root Zone of Rosa hybrida L. Grown in Different Growing Media

The subject of this study was to get more information about the root zone, mainly the gas composition in growing media, which is used in hydroponic systems. Besides the plant growth parameters of roses, yield and nutrient uptake, the results of the gas concentrations in the root zone are presented. Gas sampling at 2 or 3 heights from root zone did function well, results ranged from 530 ppm to 1...
